CARRIER REFUELING CTA

PORT: 100% AUTOMATIC

The loading and unloading of container freighters in the Port of Hamburg is essentially fully automated. However, the GPS-controlled, driverless carriers still have to be regularly refueled with diesel. SAT STERLING was also able to automate this refueling process 100%.

The design of a fully automatic fuel filling system for container carriers is a good example of our innovative spirit and engineering skills. A camera system had to be developed that would enable the system to find the tank opening independently, open it and close it again after automatic refueling. Conditions are much tougher in the maritime environment of a seaport. The optical system therefore had to be designed in such a way that it works precisely and without failure in different visibility and weather conditions. All materials had to be resistant to the harsh environmental conditions such as salty air, moisture, frost and heat.

Day and night, containers are loaded automatically in the Port of Hamburg and now, thanks to the SAT system, the carriers are also refueled – fully automatically.

MICRO DAMPER FILLING

PRECISE EVEN IN THE MICRO RANGE

In contrast to the filling systems used in car production, the micro damper filling system is an exotic filling technology. It is characterized by the small and precise filling quantity of 25 µl per attenuation element. But our engineers also found clever and successful solutions in microtechnology.

The system developed was designed for the parallel filling of the smallest damping elements in injection nozzles for combustion engines and consists of 2 filling stations. Each station evacuates, checks and fills 12 elements simultaneously. The filling system is equipped with SAT media preparation. By vacuum degassing the silicone solution to be filled, we achieve a higher functional quality of the damping element. The system has been in operation with great efficiency since its commissioning.

FASCINATION WITH NEW TERRITORY

Our many years of experience in vacuum filling technology for car air conditioning systems also enable us to develop perfect solutions for the special requirements of the household industry.

At the beginning of the nineties, we developed and installed the first refrigerant filling systems for the series production of refrigerators. The special features here were the procedural handling of the highly flammable refrigerant R600a (isobutane), the short cycle time of a few seconds and the achievement of maximum accuracy with the smallest filling quantities of approx. 20 g.
