However, the GPS-controlled, driverless carriers still have to be regularly refueled with diesel. SAT STERLING was also able to automate this refueling process 100%.<\/p>\n<p>The design of a fully automatic fuel filling system for container carriers is a good example of our innovative spirit and engineering skills. A camera system had to be developed that would enable the system to find the tank opening independently, open it and close it again after automatic refueling. Conditions are much tougher in the maritime environment of a seaport. The optical system therefore had to be designed in such a way that it works precisely and without failure in different visibility and weather conditions.
